Nope, 2009, it is only a year and 3 months away. :D People need quite a bit of notice usually, especially if they want to make it a longer holiday to see the sights, or if they are coming from overseas.

We want to plan something special! So any (sensible and possibly possible!) ideas on hwat you'd like would also be appreciated. Otherwise we'll just come up with what we think are good ideas!

My intention would be to attend ..... so much can happen between now and then (definitely a "maybe")

Probably best if it avoids peak travel season for air, hotel, and rental car bookings. I don't know how far after Christmas those extend.

End of Easter usually. But then we are hoping if we get things organised early enough, we could maybe subsidise airfares and accommodation.

We'd love to see you here fehrgo and Grank! :D

Skippy - does that mean you're going back on the 4th? :(

Similar thoughts to others ie so much can happen between now and then.

With that in mind I'd have to class myself as a 'very interested - maybe'

We would be interested in attending. Have always wanted to watch the start of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and then head to Hobart to watch the fleet come in. Combining that with a geocaching event in Tasmania in early January would be perfect. :D

I would love an excuse to head for Tassie again. My last visit in '92 lasted 6 months and I still have fond memories of the place :D
Can I claim two finds for any caches placed?

I wouldn't just come for the caching event but would come to do more of the big walks and include the event as part of the trip.

Although we are already IN Tassie, just thought you might like to know we would be more than happy to lend a hand (or 3) with all the little things such an event entails. Seeing as we are in the same area as Cheesy Pigs, just give us a hoy and we'll help out. :D

Marvellous!!! :D I'll hold you to that!

We have set a date in wet concrete: Friday 9th - Sunday 11th January 2009. The website is coming along slowly, and if there are any additions you want us to include, let me know on: admin@megaevent.tasgeocaching.com

The whole Pickupfamily are excited about this excuse to finally head down south. The kids want to know if we'll go an a "cruise" to get there. :? Pickupfamily Mum and Dad haven't been since kids and have had Tassie on the list of holiday destinations for years but haven't got around to it yet.

Looking at the event website, looks like we should stay on afterwards to do some more touring after partaking in the tours/tips of the events. It's looking very exciting!

Now off to set up some Tassie pocket queries and to find some maps...

Thanks organisers!

Regards,
Simon

Well, it's good to be back from where we've been------.
I met Cheesy Pigs and Dippedidooda at a pub in Hobart (so Hi!! again) about a year ago and met many other cachers there too. I have the feeling that this could be a master event if I know their enthusiasm for the game. I will be trying very hard to persuade the other half (Her Majesty) that we need to be in Tassie in January 2009. I hope this comes off and is well supported by all the mainland cachers....
