Caching by Mobilephone/pda

Post by wombles » 04 August 07 8:55 am

I bought a Mio a701 PDA phone/camera/GPS you name it, it has it!
However the mapping program seems to be missing, besides that I was wondering how do people use pdas to cache?
Will I need another program, or do you use the internet?
Any advice would be great, I'm not very "tech savvy"

I often use Tom Tom on my O2 and Cachemate stores all the cache details.

I have a telstra ZTE phone.... I can generate HTML files using GSAK and upload them to the phone so that I can go "paperless"... a proper PDA would probably be quicker though!

I have a Mio A701. I use BeelineGps for cacheing and Miomap V3 for satnav.

BeelineGPS is good but I can't yet get it to download all the logs and hints etc, just locations. I'm going to check out cachemate and some others.

At the moment my A701 is in for repairs (funny colours through screen). I am using an unhacked mio C220 with miomap in pedestrian mode for cacheing. This is ok but a lot more difficult than using Beeline etc...

I have the A701 online with GPRS but am a bit wary of using it too much until I see the first gprs bill from Telstra.

I'm thinking about leaning towards GPRS but like you am wary of the cost. Can you let us know what sort of usage you have and what Telstra slugs you. Would be a great help. Thanks.
