Computer Issue

Post by livandmez » 24 July 07 11:16 am

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could help me with a computer problem???

On our desktop and laptop at home, when you go into the Google Maps, you can see the cache locations, but cannot click on the cache to view its details. When I do click on one, it just tells me it is done (bottom left of screen), but just comes up with a blank screen. This is very frustrating, and means I have to spend ages searching for the cache via the list, and sometimes the suburb listed against the cache isn't accurate, so it makes things hard.

Yet, when I use my folks computer, or work computer, it works fine. Could this be a setting I could change, or is there something wrong with the computer???

As you can tell, I am not very IT savvy!

Thanks

Liv of

I see exactly what you are describing when I use IE7. Download and install the firefox web browser from http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/ and all your problems will disappear.

There's a bug in that function that specifically impacts IE7.
It has been fixed awaiting the next release.

I don't bother with Google Maps anymore or any other map from inside GC.COM or GCA.COM

The best money I every spent was premium GC.COM, GSAK software and free Goodle Earth. GC pocket queries via GSAK, I export waypoints with their full names into Google Earth and fly over the whole region and check out terrain very very easily.

I use IE7, have no trouble at all with google maps, but tend to use google Earth feed from GCA to search for caches in an area.

Worked perfectly before IE7, I'd say it's a bug in IE7 that affects Google maps.. . not the other way around. But Microsoft being Microsoft it will be up to Google maps to update their software to work with this new microsoft 'feature'.

You can do the same sort of thing with the GE link from here. Saves all that exporting.
