If he was above the treeline, where did he find all that wood for his fire?

That's Bear Grylls, ex-SAS from the UK. Bit of a legend back home, one of the few real idols left in the UK. Tough bastard

If he's ex-SAS, then yeah, he's definitely a tough bastard. Those guys don't do things by half.

Survival show faces 'fake' claim
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6911748.stm

There probably wouldn't be too many of these shows that don't have some bull$%*# factor.

I do still love watching old repeats of the Bush Tucker Man on ABC2 though.

If the guy was truly alone then they wouldn't be able to film him. Also, having worked in TV for 17 years I can tell you point blank that most of the stuff he does is probably vetted by the production companies insurance agents. If they think it's too dangerous then they wouldn't let him do it. It is after all a TV show, not a snuff film.

That doesn't mean that he can't do it. This is the guy who climbed Everest at 22 and spent 3 years in the SAS. I doubt much phases him and I doubt they faked him eating that Zebra or jumping into the frozen lake.

Note that the allegations where made by an "American survival consultant" which I would read that to be someone to gain from discrediting Bear.

I'm sorry, but I really missed the point. Was there a cache there? Perhaps "Nude up for a smiley"?
