Certainly an interesting case. Both Rippunzel and myself had this discussion on velocity accuracy last year...so got in touch with manufacturer...apparently the velocity is extremely accurate..down to 0.1km/hr...which would be way better than any radar unit.
As long as you could prove the log wasn't tampered with...no problem.
Cheers.

It all B***sh*t
The only way to make the road safer and reduce speeding and all other traffic offences is by having more marked patrol cars out on the roads.
As for speeding tickets i love how the police give you a 2km/h tolerance in the radar equipment yet for your car to comply to the ADR's it only has to be within 10%

GPS velocity is inherently very good and if anything when/if the system has a relapse then it is generally for the worst not the better and of course one wouldn't want to use this data at all.
The arguement about recorded track logs being null and void are not quite correct, downloaded track logs maybe, but not recorded track logs and one needs to treat these quite separately.
As for the system, well this is monitored on such a regular and consistent basis these days that any hiccup, cough, splutter in the system will be logged. All this is becoming a rather very grey area regardless of so called calibration certification as redunancy is quite a big factor.
This is all going to become very vague and very marginal in the near future if it not has already done so?
Regards, Kerry.

The accuracy will be less if you're on a road with sharp bends, as the GPSr will be taking spot readings and effectively cutting the corners, giving you a lower apparent speed.
Not really a problem as there's (sometimes unfortunately) no lower speed limits to worry about and there's not usually a problem with speed limits on roads that bendy!
