Originally I was nicknamed Bobby Dazzler at high school. Shortened to Bobby and Bob at Uni. Worked as a PR Coordinator so was called the Spindoctor. Add them together...

Great thread! I used my birthday - "CancerGuy" for middle of July didn't sound very appealling, so combined mid-winter with the chinese year of the dragon (when I was born) instead. Sounds so much more exotic 8). As a bonus it also ties in with an AI called wintermute from a William Gibson novel, and a long time interest in dragons :?

When I started at a new job there was an announcement that "Grank Bernlio" was the name of the new guy on site.

Thanks to a "mate" the name "Grank" stuck, as he announced my arrival everywhere we worked.

Mine is a nickname that stuck from an old pre-internet dial up BBS discussion group. A combination of my first and last names.

Struggling to think of a geocaching name, caught sight of a school book belonging to my youngest called "The Listmaker" and figured, with the endless notes I write to remind myself of things, that it was appropriate.

Back in the days of Space Invaders and Asteroids, long before PCs, you could only log your name for high score as 3 letters, usually initials.

Dik is an abbreviation of Dick is a standardised nickname for Richard. I've been using it ever since.

The semicolon on the end is just because GC wouldn't let me have my OWN NAME! I don't think they like 3 letter names.

Not for the firearm!
Have been a sailor for many years and owned a number of sail boats, from a 30 ft ocean racer to an 18 ft "A" class catamaran.
All had the name "Derringer"
My sailing took to many places and adventures - hence it seemed appropriate for caching
