the gps apps are Qlandkarte ( which i have not compiled yet( still learning)
and GPSdrive, which seems to have some issues with my gps mouse and does not give me a location, other than the simulation mode ( so some work to go with that one).
why compile Qlandkarte when you can get a copy ready to install for Ubuntu here http://www.getdeb.net/app.php?name=QLandkarte The only problem is they are for Feisty (ver 7.04) and Gutsy (ver 7.10). I don't know how they will go in the LTS (ver 6.06).

'cause I'm a Linux Noob!, following instructions from some onther location.

Whilst on this topic, is there an app or util for Debian /ubuntu that just shows if the GPS is receiving data and passing it to the PC?

something like GPStuner or beeline?

I might try it again another time. Anyone can host one. Check this link out: http://www.skype.com/help/guides/skypecasts.html <br><br>
I would recommend making it private so it isn't listed in the general Skypecast directory as you get all sorts dropping in.
