Not "Fleet to Federation" Call for naming ideas...
Hi All,
Planning for this years comp is underway and it promises to be bigger and better than ever (well, than last year anyway).
One thing we really need though - a name.
The requirements are pretty broad, in the long tradition set by last year, it would be good if the name was 'Xxxx to Xyyy' where Xxxx and Xyyy are two words that start with the same letter. Eg. Fleet to Federation.
It doesn't need to be distinctly Australian, we're hoping to have international players this year.
We reserve the right not to use anything submitted, to use anything submitted and to not give you anything but a big "hurrah" for coming up with something we choose to use!
Ideas?

It's in relation to a two month long geocaching competion where you find caches you haven't found before in order to get the best score against a list of criteria.
For example some of the ones last year were "A cache with a view" - Any cache with view in the title. Points - 1 + (Difficulty * Terrain).
It was a strategy game - the highest 10 won a geocoin, and the person who had finished all 25 categories and got the lowest score also won.
Is a heap of fun and has easy as well as hard requirements so you can spread them out how you want to.
If you have a look here - http://www.cachinggames.com/fleettofede ... ements.php you can see the requirements from last years comp.
It's free. It's fun. And last year the theme was Fleet to Federation.
So, whats it to be this year?

I might give it a go this time, I need some motivation to get out there...
Any chance perhaps of some non-coin based prizes (I'd gladly help contribute towards it somehow...)??
Howabout calling it "Broaden your Hozizons Challenge" or somthing, reflecting the fact that you have to do just that to gain maximum points?????

Can we spell it right though?CraigRat wrote:I might give it a go this time, I need some motivation to get out there...

Coins are inexpensive when it comes to funding the prizes out ones own pocket, but if anyone can rustle up some better ones, we'd be happy to use those instead.
We're not making this a pay for play game, so we try to make it more focussed on the fun rather than the prizes.

I'm going to have a go this year thats for sure. don't wanna be classed a loser next year.
Kubuntu uses a series of names to describe it product like Breezy Badger, Dapper Drake, Edgy Eft and Fiesty Fawn which is the current edition in Beta testing.
If last year was Fleet to Federation how about a Gxxxxxx to Gxxxxxxxxx for the next event to set a precedent.
Just an idea.
