Caching cotainers

Post by Osluxa » 14 January 07 11:18 pm

I'm working on a new Geo-challenge and will need to source 40 or more identical cache containers (Low cost). Something of similar shape and size to the eclipse mint boxes (I cant see myself getting through 40 odd packets of mints) preferable with little or no external wording/graphics. Any ideas/advice would be appreciated.

Go to your local 1 hour photo place (Rabbit here in SA) and ask them for the cannisters. They just throw them out and usually have a ton of them.

Chicken Feed in tassie, Red Dot in WA and Spotlight most places sell mini plastic containers with lids often in bulk...cost is often less than a dollar each

35mm film cannisters are not waterproof. Something VERY important where it rains a bit.

200ml sistema containers (around $2.00 each) may suffice and can be sourced by places like Big W (Woolworths), Coles, Bunnings, etc. They are a lot more water resistant.

Also simply by putting the word out you will probably come up with sufficient eclipse containers.

I've got 10 in stock that I'm willing to 'donate' to your cause.

ps....before you ask....no I dont eat all of these mints....I've simply asked anyone/everyone to collect them for me :)

We have a few eclipse mint containers of various colours floating around that you are welcome to have. They paint pretty well with a spray paint if you need them plain.

M&Ms cylinders are also good, they come in two sizes and various colours. Also spray alright and are more waterproof then film canisters. Also have a few of those.

Waterproof match containers are very well sealed (they've passed the PBL Swimming Pool Test with flying colours!) and usually available at $2-type shops for a buck each.
You might be able to get a box of them cheaper if you ask for a bulk discount!

Or, you could come over to SA and do this cache

<a href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... br>
and if you're real quick grab an FTF at the same time.

Yes, please do! Can't believe no-one's attempted it yet. From memory there's about 6 eclipse mints containers in there. If I hadn't just put that cache out, I would have been happy to contribute to your cause.
