2007 is going to be a tough year, will be looking at buying a house and will be starting a 2 year night course. Time and money will start to become limited however i need to give myself a good kick and get out and find some more caches,
2005 i started caching mid year and found 303 caches
over all of 2006 i only found 229
December 05 i found my most caches in one month of 89
December 06 i found zero which is a first for me
by the end of 2007 i will aim for at least 800 total finds, anything less and I've been too slack
GPS is on charge now, coffee in hand and once I've collected some energy back from last night I'll be out the door looking for some more boxes hidden in the bushes.

Not sure about my plans for 2007, apart from losing weight and tackling the city to Surf for the first time in five years, SuperNay and I did start it off with a 'bang' on Sydney Harbour.
We waited 11 hours on a point in Balmain to watch the spectacular fireworks display.
Thought I'd share some photo of the fireworks display on Sydney Harbour. SuperNay and I spent 11 hours waiting for this as we didn't want to miss out on a spot. I'll add some video soon.

My resolution for geocaching is to continue producing Geotalk podcast, reach at least 750 caches found, and find a cache in the NT.

Your right, in 2006 I altered my definition several times of what defines "Close to Home" as we silently passed milestones "all caches complete within x km" and we are more tuned into what we need to do to close off the next circle.Rabbitto wrote:Funny how our concept of 'Close to Home' has changed since 2004. Having said that. our first cache of 2007 was a FTF and it was within a quick bike ride from home. Now that's a nice start to the year.
I am now removing completed caches from my etrax, this leaves a bald spot with no caches around home or on the route to work.
In 2007, in order to maintain the average we will have to do more planning and look at different tools. A year on I have only really now started with GSAK for example.

My immediate goal is to place my first cache. Having now reached over 200 I think its time. Even if we do have to go overseas again for short or long bursts, I'm sure I could find someone to maintain it for me.
My caching goals for 2007 are to continue to use caching as a way of getting some exercise, to get more confident on my new bike to tackle some rougher terrain and to use geocaching as a way of discovering Brisbane and the different cities and countries I am lucky to sometimes get to visit.

This year I think I might try and plan more specific geocaching trips. Most (if not all) of our caching efforts have been mainly a "something to do" thing while we have been visiting somewhere, or on our way to and from places. But first we will be updating our GPS to something like a Magellan 400. The PDA battery just doesn`t last long enough. Other than that, we are going to build our house, eventually , also join some 4x4 clubs and the Victorian High Country Huts Association, so I have a good excuse to be in the high country a lot more .
