Before we crucify people in absentia, remember that a simple slip of the mouse will have a Found It rather than a Note.

Mr Walker is by nature a highly moral man, and despite the paucity of caches he is not really driven by numbers, but by the nature of the game and the fun of the hunt. Having said this, I did reclaim my first ever find, when the cache was moved, a year or more after I had originally found it. It was hidden in a completely different manner and a hundred meters or so from its original location. It took me several inspections to find it the second time, and the find was almost as much a thrill second time round,(not quite because the original will always be my first cache). I considered what to do, and it seemed to me that while the cache container may have been the same, everything else about the hunt constituted a new find and so I logged it.. Given that I had to start again with new coordinates ( although the name and general area were the same), this seemed an honourable decision.

C@W: you're right. I was being facetious.
I was wondering on the weekend about a similar question. If I found a GCXXXX cache that is now a GAXXXX cache, should I log it. The answer I came up with was, 'Don't be silly. If it's about numbers, you're only cheating yourself, and besides, there's plenty of other caches to find.'

We have a cache Lost in Space that has two cache boxes. You get to log both as finds. You need to find the first, which gives you the coords to the second 120km north. Voyger and Alpha Centuri are the two locations on a scale map of the solar system.

The whole concept of geocaching evolved as a sport/hobby utilising the Global Positioning Satellites to locate stuff hidden around the place.
If a cache is moved, then, by definition, it must have a new location! Therefore anybody who has previously found it, would not be able to find it again unless they used their GPSr and tracked down the new coordinates. How this cannot be construed as a new find is beyond me. It doesn't matter that you are finding the same container; it's in a different LOCATION!.
For my 10c, if it has to be moved, the original listing should be archived and the new location should be a new cache.

NIBS has hit the nail on the head there. If you need to use the GPS to find it again because it's in a different location, why shouldn't that count as a find. In fact it makes more sense to log it as a find than to log a note.
