Why I have to add HTML coded line breaks in forum posts?

Post by djcache » 20 January 04 11:47 am

If I type a post for a forum and submit or preview it I always end up with a single block of text without any line breaks regardless of whether I hit enter or not at the end of paragraphs. Like here }

The enter key was pressed after the } and again here. }

If I cut and paste the above and paste it below and put the html tag for a line break in, which is [/br] except with the less than and greater than brackets instead of the square ones it formats correctly.</br>

"It's always in the last place you look"

Each full stop that looks out of place above is a manually programmed line break

Check the box for "Disable HTML in this post".

Okay now I feel dumb. That should have been obvious.

If I disable that the insertion of smilies and pictures and other stuff that you can do with the buttons above will still work, will it?

Is that stuff up there BBCode - what ever that is.

Thanks Ebenezer
