some time ago when Locationless caches were still around we found ourselves in a country town on our way from Melbourne to NT. It was a Park with a train in it. we logged the train but also did the multi cache at this location. The final container was located in a Cacti bush. The worst thing nearly happened as I bent over I did not see the tip of a cacti font and nearly poked out my eye, it stuck into the corner of my eye-eyebrow and since that day I refuse to search in those spots. It doesnt faze me if people place caches in them, I just dont do them.

After watching the threaad for a while and having a think, I've gone with "Yes - But only if it is well specified on the cache page". I think if you're forewarned you can come forearmed (perhaps fourarmed then you've got two spares)

I look forward to seeing the following appear over the next month;
# This cache is a prick
# Get an eyeful of this cache
# Spike-hike
# pins-n-needles

It's ok. I'm off to take my medication *chuckle*

eye injury for real

Post by TeamAstro » 29 June 06 12:25 pm

All jokes aside – I did spike my eye back in October 2005 (see GCR9ZC). Went to Dr and had a tiny bit of debris removed (branch). Luckily the branch broke off – had it been cacti, the injury would have been worse.

Thought all was better but still probs. The swelling resulted in a chalazion. This lead to some minor day surgery.

May be some PPE type symbols should be included in the attributes list – choose safety glasses if the hunt involved chances of eye injury!!

Clear skies – Astro.

(you would not want to see under the patch - I'm sure you can google chalazion to see) :roll:

I knew someone would remember. I know we had fun with the cache and its location, however any other hiding spot rather than a Cacti would have been better.

At the recent Cap Under event, several of us were talking about this very subject. And amazingly, the Tailem Bend cache was the most referred to problem.

I personally think Astro looks better that way.

Hey Mr ParrotHead, could Embi borrow your (pirate) event dress up gear please? Don't think he would need the parrot on the shoulder for us all to see the resemblance :roll: Embi, if he sends it to you, could you post a pic here? Be sure to wear the patch on the right eye :roll: :roll:

Astro!
