Hi

Yep that is the other outfit. Didn't realise they charged as well. Why will you not renew? Does this type of setup actually work?

I have added the reply here as it might interest others.

I found that going public meant a lot of e-mails especially when the Australian coin came out. You may notice I have neither the Australian coin or our own on my trading list. This is because I do not have the time to deal with every request in a timely manner.

The other thing is when I research a trade I go through the lists and find someone that wants something I have and then I generate contact with a proposal. Soooo many of the people that contact me asking for a trade with no research as to my wants. One person keeps offering me coins I have no desire for. I got a bit terse when they wrote "tell me what I have to do to get a coin". My reply was "look at my seeking list and offer me any coin that I want". Something they obviously were not doing.

There is no need to pay for each site. I do have an account with cointracking. I will use that to keep a track of my coins. I just wont pay for a public list. That way you are able to control the trade with yourself initiating the contact.

The pinned topic of cointrading in GC.com is an easy way of setting up a trade without the need for lists. Both sites allow you to look at the current coins for free. If you buy a coin on the cointracking site you will need to set up an account. Once you have an account if you add a coin to your seeking list it will generate a mail message to the owner of the coin (As long as they have issued it through cointracking). So don't do that until you are ready.

There are other free sites for tracking of a coin portfolios. Just not as pretty as these two. One here

Did you pick up our coin at the Buried Treasure Cache??

No. Didn't see anything there, but another team, Gekko 1 had been to the cache after you and before us. I assume they have the coin.

Thanks for your feedback. From an update perspective, http://www.geocoincollection.com now only offers a five day trial and then payment, US$20 is required. CoinTrackers don't appear to offer a free service either.

Geocoincollection seems to have a better coin list and a better search feature. I may try Geocoincollection and see how it goes.

Andrew

You don't need to sign up unless you want to list your collection.

The search features and everything else works including the contacting function. So you can search for a coin and find a person either seeking or trading click on their name and then click on contact trader.

Cointracking does allow a sign-up for free. Again you just need to pay when you want to have your list of coins public. I do have a list at cointracking just not visible. However it allows me to contact etc through the site.

I use both sites as not everyone will pay double. On cointracking I look at the tab "Newest Coin Editions" This will display the coins in chronological order. By looking at that tab weekly or monthly after the initial wade through them all I keep on top of what is new. On geocoincollection I also use the newest coin search to look at the latest additions.

To search on either site (on cointracking use "Coin and Trader search" tab. Don't put too much information in the search box as it sometimes limits your search in cointracking as people have the ability to add their own names. For instance a search of belke will show that our coin is listed 4 different ways.

Have fun

Thanks for your comments and help Belken but I am clearly running thick on this one, well at least with Cointracking.com as I can't seem to find anyway to create my own list of coins without going public. Can you possibly direct me to the page I am not seeing?

I think I will go with the other mob as they seem to have a better process of keeping the coin gallery uptodate and have a good search method. That said if I can get a list up on Cointracking I might give it a go.

Thanks
Andrew

Certainly a gold compass rose coin would appeal to me and I would be most interested in working with other local geocoin collectors/acquirers to save on postage. I guess the only problem might be that the relative distances between us might outweigh the benefits?

<p>Not with some mints - coinsandpins charge the most, a min of US$8.46 ( for a single coin up to about 5) to mail to Aus and NZ i'm sure a coin will get from me to you for AU 50cents.
<br>Which is why I have started trading with US persons first and haven't swapped with any aussies - they send me a trade and my bought coin at the same time, keeping one of my bought coins in trade.

hi andrew, i didn't find it an easy site to use either - wound up double/quadruple entering everything! <p> basically you sign up, log in then you look throught the 'editions' of coins listed on the site ( or just the shop), find any you like and click on its name. then click "Click Here to add your listing to this Edition" use pull down menu choose the appropriate option - some you can buy , some you save for later like a wish list; those you have bought can be listed as keeping or available - any you get in trade can likewise be sought and added. To view your accumulated coins when you are logged in go to http://cointracking.com/myCoins.php they appear as a list with pictures - take a screenshot!
hope that walkthrough works - let me know any bits that don't, cheers

That sounds quite reasonable then. I am always wary about grand schemes that end up costing more than the a simple scheme.

For mine, I am not keen on collecting coins but rather getting a few nice shiney ones to release from time to time. We dont seem to get too many up here and I would like to get some more out there to add to the fun.

<p>As belken has pointed out the basic coin price has risen to AU$15 by the time it lands here when you are careful about postage- now for us that's still only three dollars above a TB TAG alone as the aussie geoshop charged me something totally stupid to send it! I was disgusted and haven't ordered any more from them.
<p> So if we order a five coin per month bulk subscription for oct/nov/dec Geocoinclub coins - that would give each person three different coins over three months (one to keep, one to swap/gift and one to set free is a nice mix)
http://geocoinclub.com This is the October design <img src= "http://www.geocoinclub.com/blogcontent/ ... 778675.jpg">
<p>Subscription Order has to be in by september and reduces final cost of coins incl post to US$10.30ea (total for 1x3 coins down from AU$60.80 to $40.50 from a single coin subscription.) I need $40.50 by cheque or payapal before mid september for each 3 coin set at todays exchange rate (which is very good so suggest any takers please reply soon!)
<p>In addition once we have a subscription we can buy from the overstocks of past coins if there is a coin you fancy.
