Has anyone tried a NANO-CACHE?

For all your general chit chat, caching or not.

I used one as a stage in a multi on a recent event.

It took about 8 or 10 people half an hour to find it - which could extrapolate to 5 hours for 1 cacher.

I had hoped it would take longer as we were camped in that spot for two days and I wanted to watch frustration develop.

Oh well..

One way of making the log easy to extract is to cut down a paper clip (or other wire) to just larger than the width of the log. Bend the ends over at the width of the log. Then tape this to the far edge of the log sheet - so the sheet rolls up with the wire at the centre. There is then the little bit of wire to help in extracting the logs.
I would only use these somewhere where you can maintain them quickly; I have one not far from work, and I keep a twin, already re-charged container underneath my keyboard shelf thing. If log needs replacing, I just swap the entire cache during lunch.

Tried one? I invented the Nano-cache. As far as I can tell, mine is the oldest cache with "nano" in the name, unless an older one has been archived.

A geocaching history cache? Hmmmmmmmm

I had a quick look through GC - maybe a reviewer could look for archived ones, but it looks like this is the :

OLDEST NANO CACHE IN THE WORLD!!!!

ooh cool Sam. Congrats! We have a trial one in teh garden called message in a bottle becasue it is a corked bottle from the chickenfeed store - they sell several sizes in the craft section - this is the littlest at about one inch high. We found fax paper rolls up really well, we can get about 10 inches into this space! it's smooth and strong. A little bit of tooth pick in the end rolls it up and a tiny bit of reusable tape secures the lead edge which is laminated with tape.
we are testing it against the weather as the seal is a cork - will let you know how it goes.

It's been interesting reading the answers to my initial query, even if some have been decidedly OT :?

Thanks for the helpful advice :)

I have a general aversion to caches which require the searcher to bring special equipment to retrieve and/or open it, so I may try Snuva's suggestion to make the nano's log easier to remove.

Finally, to remind the OT posters, this is was the subject of my original query:

FYI, they are also referred to as 'blinkers' or 'blinkies'. The one in your photo is being specifically packaged and marketed for geocaching, but the containers can be found on cheap jewelry that 'blinks' that you can find at $2 shop type places or markets. The space WE use to put a log would have batteries; when the lid is screwed down, it makes contact with the lid an there are little lights that blink. The magnet on the bottom is sometimes complimented by a batter you put on the other side of your ear lobe, t-shirt, lapel, etc. (Just thought I'd something a bit more On-T to help balance my geocoin cmment! )
