I looked at the latest pictures and noticed that the brickwork seems to be in sections and not one continuous interleaved brick wall.

Is there a reason that this is done this way. I'm haven't seen it done that way on any main wall of a house.

Helps the walls to stop cracking. The gaps are filled with an expanding sealer so as the walls move with the reactive clay movement, there is a greater reduction in the probablility of the wall cracking from top to bottom.

Basically the same reason there are stress lines in concrete.

You cant get much more south than we are and we have eaves :D
although a lot of our windows push right out level to the eave

I do think they go overboard with the VA joints myself. We carefully positioned ours over the top of our windows by making our windows go right up to the eaves... wouldnt even know they are there.

our place is double brick. there are also expansion joints on internal walls.
They used a timber frame over doors in long walls for the same reason

Well they didnt waste time on the plaster.....its all done....

The living room with the bifold doors on the left...the media recess in the middle and the 3 voids on the right. The room past the bifolds is the theater.

A better view of the voids...

The future kitchen and walk in pantry

The home theater..the plasma will go on the wall between the columns.
Image

Standing in the bedroom with the voids to the ensuite and the walkin robe. You can just see where the spa goes through the void.
Image

The "quiet" room with a void on the left into the dining room, the recesssarea I hope to place a book case in on the far wall too.

Looking very good there Embi!!!

All you need now is a fridge for the beer that you'll be drinking while sitting in the spa!!!

Although I think having showers and spas in full view of the front door may cause some concern for the posties...

Don't mention double time - apparently people who employ chef's are allergic to it.... :?
