I found this topic quite interesting What Is The Largest Cache Container You've Found? on the Groundspeak Forums, so much so I added my own cache 'sanD on Track.So what is the largest Cache you have seen/found/placed?

I haven't been caching long, but the largest I've found is a 20-litre container at Peninsular Gateway. Only a tiddler, compared with yours.

I Have come across a couple of huge caches along my travels.The One was in the SA riverland called "Riverland geocache" the container is about twice the size of the one in your picture.
And also there is/was a huge one placed by Team Geocoopers (Bytes @ Cox), this was a HUGE ammo container, and whenm i found it had about 10 CD ROM drives in it and was only half full !

Team piggy have a couple of 20 litre ones out there (Desert caches) and have a 60 Litre drum ready to go, when we get a chance to get some time off work to play again

The Americans can't fathom out how we can hide anything bigger than 5 litres. They haven't been into our bush.

Does anyone else think cache containers have got smaller over the last couple of years? When I started caching, standard size was at least a 5 litre container, with several 10 litre buckets planted. Eg. Peninsula Gateway was one of the earliest caches planted in Vic.

Most caches these days seem to be around the 1-2 litre mark, with quite a lot of smaller ones. I have trouble finding stuff small enough to put in really little caches.

Perhaps it's because most caches now are planted in urban areas, where it started off as more of a bushwalking thing - ie. in remote areas.

The largest one we have found is Poogie yes yes. The cache containers we use are either 30 cal or 50 cal ammo boxes. This is because we believe that if you hide a cache it should be able to stand against a reasonable amount of time. we are trying to only hide in bush and remote locals or rarely visited sites. The containers are getting smaller though. I think it may be the cost of a good weather proof container. But $7.00 for a 30 cal weather proof and submersible, fire proof box is not much compared to a tupperware box.

Swampy's might have the edge, but not by much...

Thought 20-litre container was bigger one that have ever seen at Poineers Chair (GC3448) - a several kms away from Peninsular Getaway.

I reckon the largest cache is "The Furphy" man that thing is HUGE and you could easily fit an Eco Team member in it.

Alex goes to great Heights is the biggest cache that I have found. Although the description of this cache says that it is 5 litres. I think it is more in the range of 30 to 50 litres; maybe a zero was left of the end of the number in the description. The cache is packed with excellent things too. I donÃ‚â€™t think that I was able to swap anything when I found it because all of the stuff I had with me was decidedly drab compared to the contents of the cache.

Don't think we can top Philipp's, but the largest we've found in Australia would be The Asteroids: Ceres by TeamAstro. The inner container is a plastic garbage bin, and the outer one (it's a surprise) is even bigger.

Yes Ceres is the largest I have ever seen. I was with Gunnell & Pandaabear that day, we joked about leaving his Prado in there as a swap!
