[ot] Anybody know what this is???
It has some information on the other side:
The other side is marked "Tesla RVK 125W" RVK = "Mercury High Pressure UV".
There is a small screw which (I assume, it's rusty) will allow the thing to open up so the the bulb bit can be replaced.
There is a wire (inside a glass? pipe) that goes up through the side bit from the base to the top of the tube.
Thanks
Sam

It fits just a little bit to the bottom right of section D on the diagram below. To return it stand in a corn field holding it above your head and chant "Ommmmmm". When entering don't forget to indicate your preference for Probe or Non Probe. (You still get probed either way but at least with Non Probe you are able to get dragged away kicking and screaming.)

Champions guys - esp. the pink one!
My friend works in a Museum in Launceston and is trying to identify 'things in boxes'.
How about these?
Top left one, the bit round thing on the end of the wire is a "socket" for a light bulb.
Bottom one has a similar socket but it's obviously not for a standard bulb. That round thing on it is very fine red wire coiled around & around, with a rubber? rim.
Whats the dark square part of each one? Bakelite, Steel, Magnetic?
I can't remember & might not get back into to them until Tuesday, but, from memory, it's hard black metal like substance. Haven't checked to see if it's magnetic. Definitely not bakelite. I'm not that good on identifying metals
No words or numbers, other than the long one in the photo.
Bascially, I need to be able to write something more useful than "3 thingies with bits of wire and plastic attached" or get enough info to be able to track it down on the web. Googling on "transformers" doesn't get me very far.

Those look like flyback transformers. Don't know if you'd find them in valve radios but you'll certainly find them in a lot of TVs. It's not unusual to find them removed from the equipment they were installed in, they fail often.Cached wrote:How about these?

toholio is correct - they are flyback transformers, look like they came out of old portable hybrib valve/transistor TVs....toholio wrote:Those look like flyback transformers.
The black stuff in the middle is a ferrite core, used to transfer the magnetism from one coil to the other.

These are flyback transformers.
Top right looks like old Philips / Pye and would be the youngest (late 1970s). Would have probebly been used with a Philips green trippler
Top left ?? probebly mid to late B&W era.
Bottom looks like earlyer B&W Valve era.
Both the valve era ones look like they would have been used with a 1S2. The older one was most likly driven by a 6CM5.
<---- 6CM5 (or the EL equiv)
Take a look at this site for some vintage TV history.

Edit------------
Here we go....
Top right looks very like the one in this Philips K9 chassis.
