I'm going on a sea voyage later on in the year and it got me thinking about how many degree confluences would be open to you if you had a sea going vessel. Unfortunately there are no actual confluences where I'm going however there is one located very close to the port of Noumea. If the ship looks like crossing it I'll be ready but it's a long shot. Like any self respecting GPS nut I'll be taking my GPSr with me on board.

"overview
The project is an organized sampling of the world. There is a confluence within 49 miles (79 km) of you if you're on the surface of Earth. We've discounted confluences in the oceans and some near the poles, but there are still 11,782 to be found."

so I think this means they don't record the oceanic confluences.

clear skies,
Astro.

That's right!

The idea behind it is they are collecting a photographic record. Most of the ocean ones would look pretty much identical!
