Travel Bug Protocol

A question regarding travel bug protocol.
When making a trade do you swap an item for a TB or do you do a swap and then take the TB as a separate transaction? Same goes for placing a bug.

The few TB's that I have moved have been done as swaps, not a separate item but I have seen it done both ways and was wondering what the general consensus was.

Travel bugs are not trade items.
They do not need to be "swapped" for anything.
Feel free to take one or leave one without taking or leaving anything else.

In previous discussions, most people agreed that they were separate to swaps. People feel justified taking them from a cache and not putting a swap in their place as their purpose is to travel. Therefore, those people who do think they are swaps and put one in a cache taking something else out will just end up depleting the cache contents.
