Just yesterday I asked Mrs-Mix what she thought about an interstate event in Mildura in 2007 to which she said a few non-committal things like “mumble, mumble, geocaching, mumble, mumble. Which I take to mean “Great IdeaÂâ€C.A.S. in another thread wrote:
however what about holding the event in Mildura ... a tri-state caching event?

was Geowoodstock III - I only know of this one because one of the Tassy Racing bugs went through it.
If publicity went out early enough, there may also be international interest.

It does seem an ideal location as it is central to the south eastern states and central to the over all geocacher density. Are their many/any geocachers living near there? does anyone go there regularly? If this event comes off and is a big as it could potentially be then there would need to be a relatively high number of caches and that will require some locals.Andrew&Leesa wrote:mildura is a pretty ideal spot. bang in the centre of most

The Wagga crowd would be likely to attend. It's further than Dubbo, but closer than SA, so why not, I say. Good choice Mix.
One option would be for the type of event where all who enter have to take & place a cache, with the co-ords controlled by the event owner, so no duplicates - or none within the 160m rule....... you all give the co-ords & then everyone gets the co-ords for all the caches.
With 3+ states involved there could be 50+ teams ?????????????
Sounds like a big area might be needed.

AFIK Mildura is pretty much a geocacher desert. That's not to say that a few of us Vic's mightened be prepared to spend some weekends preparing.Mix wrote:It does seem an ideal location as it is central to the south eastern states and central to the over all geocacher density. The potential for caches up there within and hour of Mildura is almost endless - & in some top locations.
