GCA Newsletter #3

Post by Bronze » 07 January 06 9:09 pm

Well with time on my hands I thought I'd have a go at editing a newsletter for the Geocaching Australia Community. You write the articles and I put it all together, Ecoteam publishes it and then you read it and say "Thanks Guys, Your legends".

If you fancy yourself a bit of a writer and want to string a few hundred words togehter that might be of interest to your fellow cachers then draft it up, reread it a couple of days later and once your happy with the result forward it to:

thebronzemailbox AT yahoo DOT com

You can write about almost anything you like that is related to Geocaching.
For example:
  • * Your favourite cache adventure,
    * A review on an event you attended,
    * Caching ideas, plans, teams or regions,
    * Promotion for upcoming events,
    * Humor or misadventure you can now laugh at
    * Profiles on Pivotal, veteran or character members of the community (with consent)
    * Gizmo's, gadgets, thingies and whatsits that are cool (e.g. Spoons)
    * What not to do when caching,
    * Random photo's of cachers doing their thing somewhere nice,
    * Silly polls, graphs, pic charts and theories that apply to geocaching,
    * For the record articles: e.g. History, names, dates, facts that should be recorded.

Please keep articles no more than 500 words and include good quality images or at least links to good quality images.

I will do my best to include all efforts sent in. If you are not inclined to write an article yourself then please email another cacher who you think would qualify even though they may not frequent the forum.

Approximately 25 cachers have already been invited to submit product reviews, state based articles, event reviews, regional updates and other areas that may be of interest. But all in all this is your newsletter, you want it good let me do it, you want it great - submit anything relevant or any length under 500 words.

The deadline for submitted articles is the 15th of Jan for publication at the commencement of Feb. If your a little late thats fine but I would like the bulk of articles in my inbox by the 15th please.

My part:
If you are happy to be interviewed by me for a "Cacher Profiles" section you need to PM me your phone number, a time and Email later a wacky (or boring) image greater than 200x200pixels. I will send you the finished profile before publication of course.

The Bronze. :D

Since we are at the start of a new year, mabye some stats from 2005 could be included, such as who found/hid the most caches across australia, or each state, the most found cache in AUS, etc.

These could be done easily, with the permission of C@W of course.

I may have a go at writing an article, if ive got the time whilst at work next week.

Thanks you to those who have made submisison to the newsletter but I need much more before I can put it together. If it is going to be worth reading it needs to be diverse. At the moment I have enough to fill one GCA thread with only about 7 submissions.

Come on people I need more articles.
Later tonight I'll make a list of what I do have so people can see I have recieved theirs and it has been included.

might be an idea to list topics that have already been covered?

so people don't write something which has already been covered?
