Australian GEOcoin
trackable coins
Ideology,

I would love to have the coins track at GCA, however, they then wouldn't show up on the international site. I know that it is very shallow, but, I like to have the different icons for the coins that I have found show up in my stats.

this may not be a big problem for others, so i am willing to bow to the majority rule thing.

since this coin has been thrashed out in the forums, I am willing to submit to the overall decision. let me know what you think about the tracking

some responses
OK,

The current cost for the coins is running at $9.50, but there has only been responses to account for 120 coins. If the coins get to 250 then the cost should drop below $9 and the more that are ordered (I will stop at 1000 in the first run) the lowest possible cost would be $7.50 a coin.

I will also start a poll for the tracking of the coin as it seems to be the final concern for cachers.

The trick would be to somehow get the word out to those Australians who don't read this forum.
Only a small % of cachers shop here - many interested buyers won't even know this is in the wind..
maybe put notes to link to this forum on a couple of your most watched caches - that should pick up a few in ACT/NSW?

Re: some responses
I agree with having a maximum run of each edition - if this is the same (1000 as suggested) then the relative value is preserved across editions.ADAcache wrote:

Maybe I aint getting something with this geocoin thread?
I remember this thread and a post of someone that tried to get this off the ground a while ago. http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewtopi ... sc&start=0
A post in there states Aust made geocoins for around the $2.50 mark, maybe up to $3.50 with a bit of profit to cover someone holding them all after manufacture.
So lets add the Extortion, I mean Geo.com tracking fee or the fee free fee ! if tracked on geo.com.au.
That makes a total of about $5.00.
This is about 50% cheaper than the ones being proposed here? (And Aust made). Wouldn't it be better going with these?
As I said, maybe something changed in pricing or otherwise, but I havent read it yet..
And would it be "better" to have the coins avaliable through the geo-shop instead of just one user ?
Just a thought, easier for someone to track down then, go to where the geo gear is sold..

geocoins
I am very interested in these coins, just a suggestion, can you keep a record of all interested aussie cachers and notify them by email as soon as these coins are available and perhaps collect cash prior to placing the order, I would prefer to pay by direct deposit as I do not have a credit card to use on the internet (ie: paypal etc)
