Would this mean that the tracking number would have to be on the front :?:

The numbers are put on seperate to the die process so they can be on either the front or the back without changing the die

I think as an international view that people see the opera house or harbour bridge as being an AUSTRALIAN icon, only people complaining are those who don't live in Sydney, but i like the idea of Ularu, "Ayer's Rock" as it is a well known icon and smack bang in the middle of Aus.

I would buy a few.

Even more people would recognise a Kangaroo, than a Coathanger :P

Looks like a good idea, prefer an Aussie Animal than the bridge. Be good if they could be made here too, I like supporting local industry. It appears the costs will be similar?

Its all a matter of perspective and where you happen to be. I see more of animals and WA icons here and a lot less of the NSW or Victorian ones like the 'coathanger'.

If we are to have an Australian Geocoin then it shouldn't contain an icon of a particular area so that it will appeal to a lot more cachers.

As being ex-Victorian; ex-Qlder; ex-SAer; and ex-NSWer, I would like to see a Kangaroo as Australian Icon (the same as Kangaroo on one penny) on Australian GEOcoin. It will look so good – also would be good to include Southern Cross (stars) on it too as well if possible, rather than Aussie flag, any state icon like coathanger, or Opera, etc.
May I suggest that we vote by poll ie what animal, other icon, etc.?
My bob worth
I would suggest not having the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the coin.

Not because it is more Sydney or NSW than any other state or Australian town, but because it is not a unique Australian icon.

The Hell Gate Bridge in New York is remarkably similar in appearance and, when reduced to simple sketches it is hard to tell the two apart.

If you stick with a kangaroo then there is no doubt where it is from.

Yes, good idea, :D I do feel any permanant Australian design that is going to physically become the "national item" should be put to a Poll for all of its aspects from design to production, this way everyone is happy and can say they have all been given a choice in the design.

This topic was also discussed back in April 2005 in this thread: http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewtopi ... ht=geocoin

Maybe one geocoin style for the overseas cachers, featuring the kangaroo, and one for us aussies, featuring roadkill

BTW as an aussie geocoin, do we get our own symbol to identify the coin in GC seek lists etc......eg the german geocoin symbol is Image (the symbol can been seen for a limited time at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?state_id=54). I take it this is
