daks emu mob

Post by The Garner Family » 26 November 05 6:56 pm

Many of you will know dak's emu mob - if only by his reputation as one of Australia's most prolific cachers; he is also a really nice guy. You may also have noticed that he suddenly stopped caching several weeks ago.

Dak had been diagnosed with bowel cancer and has had surgery to remove it. While that surgery was successful the doctors also picked up a secondary growth on his liver. He now has to have chemo therapy for 6 months and another operation again in some months time.

While Dak isn't a regular on these forums anymore, I know he occassionally reads them and I'm sure everyone would still wish him a speedy recovery and all the best over the coming months.

I've never met Dak - but certainly know him as a pioneer of the sport in this country - and has alway come across as a decent guy to boot.

If you're reading this Dak - best of luck.

Coincidently, after spending today helping my friend who is undergoing chemo for terminal bowel cancer, I can only feel compassion and respect for anyone going through this treatment. I wish Dak and his family a speedy recovery.

I have met dak a few times personally and have have had a couple of good hints on caches I have been stuck on. I feel deeply saddened by this tradgedy, but I hope he has a speedy recovery and gets well soon.
Hope to see you back on the caching trail soon and keep the happy thoughts :-).

Dak logged my VECTOR (GCMYWW) cache on Sep 19 (his first Astro cache). We corresponded a couple of times, confirming the coords he calculated before his rushed trip to Adelaide. While he was here for work, he managed to squeeze in an impressive bit of caching after hours. A true gentleman by the emails between us.

I wish you all the best my friend. Are you sure you are not resting so the rest of us can catch you!!!

Clear skies from all at TeamAstro.
