Another newbie

Post by gingernutta » 04 October 05 8:47 pm

I stumbled across this website today and am very keen to join the fun.

Wait a minute - there is a stumbling block or two. My husband has problems with his knees and back due to a parachuting accident years ago, can we combine geocaching with 4wding to make it a little easier on his joints? Next, the only gps we have is for our vehicle, a Garmin Streetpilot 2610 - will this do, when I fgure out how to use it?

We are in Beaudesertshire, Queensland, anyone got a good starter cache for us?

Looking forward to meeting youse fellas down the track... :D

There is not too much around Beaudesert. I am at Browns Plains. The nearest one to you would be Tunnel Vision at Canungra.

It is listed on the geocaching.com website but the details can be accessed from this site by entering your postcode into the search field of the main page of this site.

There are a lot of 4wd accessable caches around SE Qld.

Shucks guys, thanks for the welcome, really!

I reckon it sounds like about as much fun as you want to make it, and I'm in for making the effort.

As for The Ginger Loon, I reckon that's probably better than being the ginger ninja.

Welcome nutta. If geocaching had a general surgeons warning this would be it.

The above pic is Mix. He's well um, ah...

Well Mix is Mix. Stick around long enough and you'll get to see more of him. He used to be called Mixima (Short for Mixamatosis) but he's over that now apparently.

Hey, can't wait to get started. Thanks for the pm, got that printed out now. Plan to head off as soon as I can figure out the GPS. Got to learn how to program it - seller 'forgot' to provide the instruction book - It's in the mail.

Yeh! Greenbank, lived there for a few years

Unfortunately your GPS is purely for street routing and from a quick look at the Garmin website you cant enter waypoints (only POIs) and then access them with detailed compass pointer which would normally take you up to the cache location.
