Never *ever* purchase Coke at more than $1 per litre.
$1 per litre is the buy-in price for Coke at The Loon Household and at the Capt Chaos Household.
The major supermarket chains will regularly have 1.25lt coke for $1.25 or less or 2lt coke for $2.00 or less. If it costs more than that we don't buy it. The absolute worst way to buy coke is by the can. Even with those large multi-can packs the price is nowhere near $1 per litre.
Of course the other consumerable with a standard buy-in price in our household was chocolate at 1 cent per gram, but I haven't seen that sort of a price for a few years now...

The other interesting comparison is plain milk in 600ml cartons vs. bottled water. More often than not the milk is about $1.40 and water is a lot more, from delies and the such. Now that's what I call a ripoff when water in bulk is about 88c per kl.Considering the amount of stuff needed to make milk versus water this is pretty weird.
Maybe you could buy milk, filter out the solid bits and sell the water??

At the moment it is around $1.30/litre.
Last week it was around $1.40.
At least one station in Melbourne (they were berated on the radio) was at $1.49.
The RACV suggest it will be coming down to around $1.20 in a week or so and the ACCC is monitoring pricing to ensure there is no profiteering going on by the petrol companies.

That's of course aside from the regular profiteering and price fixing that happens all year roundcaughtatwork wrote:At the moment it is around $1.30/litre.

What other product do you know goes up and down 10% in price in a regular cycle every week for no real reason
