Some of you who remember the drama about the tsunami may like to have a read of this....

I've been searching - almost hoping that a donation cache gets released over it... it'd be fun just to see the sparks fly. :-)

Personally, I am making a donation. They need help just as other people facing disasters do.

Cheers

Aushiker, I'm prompted to say thanks. I live 500 miles away from the disaster and am not directly affected, but through friends of friends and stories of evacuees who are stranded here and all over the southern US, I know the devastation is on a scale beyond anything seen in the US in a long time. Storm damage stretches for a hundred miles along the coast. What makes the situation in New Orleans worse is that the water just doesn't go away when the storm does. New Orleans is surrounded by levees. When they break and let the sea water in, it has nowhere to go. A city of a million people could be under 10 feet of water for weeks until they get the pumps repaired and they have time to drain the city. Geocaching seems irrelevant at times like this and gc.com's handling of the tsunami disaster earlier seems irrelevant, too. Anyway, thanks for taking the high road and caring.

This could become interesting.

I will stay posted to the developments. I couldn't be bothered reading the GC forum. I got as far as my ole mate Mtn Man on their first page and realised I have better things to do like soak my sons undies and sweep the driveway.

I wish to add that I feel for my fellow man. I'm not into bodybag counts and tabled stats to compare who's disaster is bigger than who's but I do want to add that I feel honestly feel for America at this time of need for then. I will openly admit I am anti-American in my sentiment but I will admit that when they are not bombing somewhere they do do a lot for the global good in aid and humanitarian efforts. That said I hope that the global community does pull together to assist these people in need.
