Ground base? as in a WADGPS monitoring type ground bases? No we don't and not likely to either from all indications. To cover Oz 1 simply wouldn't do the job. Just compare the size of CONUS with something like 25 ground stations to the size of Australia.

In any case who is going to pay for it all? Air Services Australia have no intention of developing a WAAS type system in Australia as they have developed a much cheaper solution as WAAS is extremely expensive and Australia's population simply couldn't absorb the cost.

Cheers, Kerry.
Very Correct Kerry. This is a long thread and the simple answer is written above. It is just too expensive for Australia to set up. Remember WAAS was set up in the early days to cope with the early model sats and to correct SA (selective Availability) in military applications. The best thing we can do is switch it off and forget about it for at least the next three years. Its only advantage is to drain Batteries faster because your GPS has to work harder and that is an advantage for Duracell.
