gps holder

Post by scojohara » 19 August 05 10:16 pm

I have a Garmin Etrex and am looking for a holder that will attach to the windscreen of my car. I had a look at the garmin ones and apart from the high price, you had to remove the battery backing plate for it. I see this being a pain when geocaching and wanting to take it out often. What have others used that they have found works. Where did you get it and how much did it cost
Thanks in anticipation
Scott

Go the genuine article. It's not a pain at all, very easy to use. You REPLACE the backing plate - once you put the other one on, you leave it there, its a proper cover in it's own right.l

I've got one of the genuine mounts and find it no real issue to use. It seems to hold the unit very securely and is attached to the dash without any drilling required.

I've also spotted a very nice windscreen mount in Team Webguy's Cache Mobile (Larry) :) .
I understand that he picked it up from http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... r4_PcY_BIN

It seems to be quite well made and very easy to use.

I had a genuine mount on my emap and had nothing but trouble with it.<br /> The emap is a bit heavier than the etrex but the mount is the same (Garmin just change the back to suit the gps). I switched to a RAM mount and find it a much better and more versatile solution.
