Fantastic news!

Not only are we having a massive 'hand's up' from many new and distinguished teams from right along the inland and East Coast but invitations to special guests like Embi, Ideology and Charlie Brown (GeoShop / Sphere) have panneded out as well. Although Charlie is a tentative at this stage both Ideology and Embi with the brains of the team, J are flying up from Sydney in the Geochopter. Embi and J are of course coming up from Melbourne to meet the all the top names in Geocaching prepared to crawl the plains and river banks of the Macquarie.

Embi has offered to give a presentation on the approvals process and is looking forward to catching up with all the attending teams.

So if you haven't got your nomination form in yet then now is the time to do so and Red Ochre looks forward meeting and greeting you on your arrival to the Gold Rush.

Wow, looking good guys! too bad I'm a bit too far away (only 1600Km ;) )

I do have an idea that could liven up this chaching bonanza even more:
Caching Black jack!
I figured this would fit into the goldrush theme :)

How it works?
You get a deck of cards (7 and up for BJ) shuffle them and then number them on the back.
Created cards with matching numbers and hide half of those in caches.

A team who finds 2 of those cards can play blackjack agains the bank (i.e. Bronze etc). The bank shuffles the remaining cards and draws 2.
From then on it is regular BJ.
Teams can wager part of their 'gold' to boost the final loot.

As you all speak gold is being placed out this weekend for the enjoyment of the many.

We have produced 54kg of gold and it's being spread out all over the district with the help of Team Pi and Mix.

Urban Gold won't be place until the week before the event so to much of it dosent wander.

What sort of data will you have available for Tech Teams. I've started preparation and wanted to make sure we would be ready. So if you could give some details that would be super.

At this stage tech teams will get a CD with GPX, LOC and Text for all gold sites. A GPX file of caches and some maps. We are finalising this as we speak.

Pesky will get the same as everyone else - Ah but the trick is that half the gold sites were hidden by Mix, so when your searching for gold (or Mixs' caches) you have to ask you self.

Are you feeling lucky punk?

A couple of teams have suggested or are intending to arrive Friday afternoon. Should team do choose to arrive early I will be at the event site from 4 / 4.30 Friday afternoon setting up what I can for the weekend.

The camping fee will apply of course which is $4 per person per night. This will go directly to the scouts and can be paid on the Saturday morning when you pay your team nomination fee.

Depending on how much is set up Friday I maybe camping the Friday night also just to ensure nobody jumps the fence and heads off with a marquee over their shoulder.
