Hi,

I am continually managing to get confused by peoples cacher names. Theres a few I've just read the wrong way first time and never got right again, others I still haven't worked out.

Eg. I used to think adelaide cachers geotrecaz, i read as in 'alcatraz' and couldn't ever work out that it actually said geotrekkers. Felt a right dope when they explained it to me!!

I've only just realised that ACTS2 was in Vic - I had assumed an ACT youthgroup!!

I've been watching the change your name thread with anticipation though ....

Like probably some people who start out, i just chose something i could remember and stuck with it...I now realise it is very hard to pronounce

The Bronze --> Pronounced "The Bronze" as spoken with Australian dialect.

Has reference to alloy but no commection to Mad Max. Was initially just Bronze but sounded to boring and wierd like Mix and Mixima.

Origins: Long exersises in the field for weeks and months would not wear me down. When asked how I was my reply would always be "Good as gold!" Infintary buddies would not accept this as true as we had not showered for at least three weeks and 'Silver' sounded to good so the dubbed me "Bronze."

Easy mane and unique. There are already enough Steve's in the world and even with a 'ph' in the middle of my name I still wonder which Steve they are referring too.

Mine is an old nickname I picked up years ago before the internet was publicly available, back in the old dial up bulletin board days. A combination of my first and last names. A group called LTUAE.

Peter (Gunnell) thinks he invented an unusual yet cute and appealling to chicks name for himself I've checked the dictionary and its definition is "a small eel like fish" Thank god he introduced himself as Peter and didn't mention caching for 3 months after we met.

Pandaabear is in honour of my dog (Panda), I get asked a lot why I put the "aa" in Pandaabear, when Peter first introduced me to caching, I registered my own username and panda and pandabear were already taken, so I put the extra "a" in for registration and it's stuck.

Acts2youthGroup, well if you check out the cachers game 1 you can find where the name originates. I am the youth co-ordinator for the river valley church located in Warburton (not to be confused with the warburton in WA). Acts is a book in the bible and 2 is the chapter. this chapter speaks about being united having all things in common. the youth group is better known as acts2 united.

How embarassing . I've been referring to you as "Thay Barhoonsay" in a Norwegian accent with a slight Icelandic twang over the "hoon" and an Indonesian emphasis on the "Say". Thank goodness for this thread. I could have really come off looking silly here.<p>

Scoot - One night i needed a nickname for a LAN game(no i couldn't just use Liz), i couldn't think of one and there was an ad on TV for those Scooters old people use. I didn't like Scooter cause of that DJ guy so i went with Scoot, i have used it ever since.

To my origins.

Effrem (pronounced EFF rem)

Started at school (like all good life nicknames),
there was a TV show on in the afternoons (mid to late 80's)
and a character called "Effrem Zit" was part of the show.
(Actually cant remember what the name was, but it did have Aggro and Anne Marie Biggar as hosts).

Now being a typical teen with oily skin guess who got called Effrem, It only stuck after my mates outside of school found out about it, and it stuck hard , Not being a particularly bad nick (compared to some my mates "Bog" for instance) it didnt bother me and when I got the net, it just was the first thing that came to mind for a email addy and so it goes on.

That was 'Wombat'.... Also later had the higly desirable (well to a 14 y.o) Blakeney Twins as hosts............

Oh yeah... my name is just a contraction of my first and last names, used it since the old BBS days for everything............
