Members ID numbers
Members ID numbers
Hello there...I am trying to solve a mystery puzzle that involves finding out the member ID numbers of a select bunch of Geocachers. I eventually found my own, which took a little while but have had absolutely no luck in looking for others. Does anyone out there have an answer?

Re: Members ID numbers
Are you looking for member numers of geocacher at geocaching.com or geocaching.com.au?
At Geocaching Australia you can look at the forum member list: memberlist.php
Then by going to their name alphabetically hover over their name and you will see a link to their forum profile.
e.g. memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=178684
178684 would be your member number. I assume that would be the member number you are looking for.
If you're looking at geocaching.com then I really don't know. You used to be able to see their forums in a similar way but that now seems to be restricted.
You could try going to their member page. e.g. https://www.geocaching.com/p/?id=230070 or https://www.geocaching.com/p/?u=caughtatwork same thing.
The click on View Forum Posts https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index. ... k/content/
230070-caughtatwork should tell you their member id.

Re: Members ID numbers
Thanks for your reply. The member ID that I am looking for is the one from Geocaching.com , which I can find when looking at my own profile under account/settings. It's not the one you found from the forum. When I try other people's names, that number is hidden. I also tried all the links you provided but no good.
I appreciate you trying though!

Hi
On GC go to their public profile and then hover over the link 'View Forum Posts' and you would get a link like
'https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/profile/11077677-West%20Oz%20Geocaching/content/'
I believe the number after 'profile/' and before their name is the one you want.

Hi there. Thanks for your input. How do I find someone else's public profile? I read what you said but can't make it happen...

Re: Members ID numbers
I thought I would look and went to another cachers cache, clicked on their name and it bought up there page and from there I clicked on forum posts and saw a number in a link like mentioned in the last helpful post. I did it on my android phone as well as I thought it might be only through a compter. Handy info to know for puzzle caches.
Re: Members ID numbers
Thanks for also having a go for me. Once again, I have tried what has been suggested but don't get a result. Can you give me a live example of a cache owner's name that I can also try, to see if it's just a setting problem for me? There are plenty of cachers that have never posted anything on the forum. I wonder if that is also an issue?

Re: Members ID numbers
Hi again
When I did this I get the following when hovering over the link I mentioned in my previous post which gives your number as 32680354.
Another example is 'LittleJimmyR' ,(the owner of the last cache you logged), giving a number of 33366657
Using your cacher name as an example the above is the format that you can use to get to a cachers profile by using their name instead of their UID which is way that the system does it when clicking on their cacher name in, say, a cache log.https://www.geocaching.com/p/?u=magpies22
When I did this I get the following when hovering over the link I mentioned in my previous post which gives your number as 32680354.
BTW it doesn't matter if they have never posted in the forums as the link is always there regardless. If you do happen to actually try the link for such a cacher all you get is a page that says 'We could not locate the item you are trying to view' which is what I get if I actually follow your profile link. The number is always visible in the URL regardless.https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/profile/32680354-magpies22/content/
