GA vs Geocaching.com query

Hi all
I’ve recently got back into geocaching after a 10 yr period and have a couple of queries.
While out on the weekend I found a few caches on the GA site not listed on the GP site and vice versa.
I also found you need to pay to uncover some caches on the GP site.
So while we thought there were only 2 caches where we were in the semi rural place we were in there were quite a few we missed because of this.
Pretty sure all Aussie caches used to be listed here.
Am I missing something? Thanks

Geocaches are listed by geocachers.

They can choose to list at one, the other or both. We don't recommend the same geocache listed at both sites for confusion reasons and there are very, very few that are listed at both sites.

So your memory is probably false. We do have the geocaches from geocaching . com here for statistical and planning purposes but you cannot see the geocache details or log them here, you need to log them at the home listing site.

geocaching . com also do have a premium member geocache that you cannot see the co-ordinates unless you pay (or someone who is a premium member gives to you). They are a for profit site so seek to make a profit (which is only natural).

Here at Geocaching Australia we have no such membership and all geocaches listed here are free and open.

Welcome back.

Thanks for your help.
Back in the day there were no phone apps so maybe I’ve confused the actual site to the app which was completely different.

It's the one and the same, GC really restricts what you can do for free with their app, while TECHNICALLY not pay for play, they restrict by limiting the caches by terrain/difficulty and the number you can see via the app unless you pay, so I think it's fair to call it "pay for play" with their app. It's not just premium caches unavailable in their app for the nonpaying.

For the last [strike]four[/strike]five years I've been trying to get into their API program.
It's as locked out as can be.
