Geocaching on kickstarter!!

Post by Phate » 31 March 14 6:48 pm

Hi all,

Just wanted to bring your attention to the geocaching project on kickstarter.

The project if fully if funded will bring the worlds largest geocache to Australia.

Hopefully we can make this happen.

Am guessing this is it:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/12 ... t-geocache

Better than the world's smallest geocache I guess! Admire the sentiment.

Good on them for having a crack at that, though I think the creator might have a bit more credibility if they shared their Geocaching name on the Kickstarter.

Yeah I wish they would. Also a better idea of where the cache will be. All we know is victoria somewhere.

Also a little more info and maintenance as other kickstarter projects do.

I've also suggested a smaller $1 pledge.

However, like yourself. I thinks it's a great idea. So have backed it.

Will let em know we would like to know their cache name.

The owner needs to identify himself or herself, so we can verify this is not a scam. Geocaching name is sufficient as I'm sure someone would know of them if this is legit.

It's not a scam, but whether it will be successful or not is debatable.
The owner is cookie_monster and his brother.
They have achieved some interesting things, such as putting a Go Pro to the edge of space on a weather balloon and making a movie of it for Youtube.
They are young, high achieving secondary school kids. Lemmykc knows Jack (cookie_monster).

Will they pull it off? I don't know. I reckon there's a fair chance. I think Jack is in China at the moment.

I believe that the cache is likely to be around Sheparton, but the details are still being worked out

There is a current facebook page about it which has a lot of chat about it. It also identifies the owner(s) both by GC name and personally.
