Your Strange Cito Items

Post by Geof » 28 November 04 1:52 pm

What strange / odd / big items have you found & removed wile cache hunting.

To date the strangest thing I'v found was a fire extinguisher + padlock + mug near GC78E "Blast from the Past"

I'm sure many of you can do better than that - tell us your story and/or show us your pics :P .

I know that the first few times we went out with xfking, he would invariably turn up with a saucepan. This happened on at least four occasions.

We found a large possum tail near Line of Sight #2 with no sign of the owner.

A small goat  at "Panoramic Views" (which is now 'MEGA Views').
We didn't find the cache, but we happened upon the baby goat wandering around with a broken chain lead around it's neck. We door knocked and no one knew anything. We put it in the back of the car and drove to the local vets, asking if they knew who owned it. Nada. So we called the Ranger and they collected it, assuring us that if it was not claimed, it would not be put down - they were certain it wouldn't have trouble finding a home :D
not exactly 'CITO' but it does fit into the strange/odd definition.

Now, I _assume_ that you mean that he found saucepans when out cache hunting...

But I can't shake the mental image of him turning up with GPSr in one hand, saucepan in the other, saying "So, ready to go?"

Yeah, well after the first couple of times we started to wonder ourselves if he wasn't bringing them from home.

Before I was a cacher I found a hunting hound with an address tag. When I rang they were kind of "oh yeah ok" like it happend all the time. Actioncow!'s goat reminded me.

The dog seemed very happy to see someone and was very worn out.

Saucepan in the hand or on the head

He might have been worried about all the "rays" coming from the GPS Satelites.

Probably a wallet that had been thrown from a passing car while I was doing Nads "Old Bridges". I handed it into the cop shop when I returned into town.

I have just posted a Cache in Trash Out Event for the Red OChre contingent. Once it has been approved I will be sure to post the link here and in the Red Ochre forum.

My odd one for the day.

That's what happens when the cache is only 3m from an opportunity shop.
