Australia Wide Geocache Series

Post by Cankid » 05 January 14 12:56 pm

Hi all,

There has been much discussion in some of the Australian caching groups on Facebook and I thought I would inform those of you who have not joined up yet. A few days ago, we started a group to help discuss the possibility of creating an Australia wide geocache series. It would be based on GC.com and have caches in most parts of Australia. We are still deciding on themes and that sort of stuff, so if you would like to have some input, feel free to join us.

You can find us here:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/243234709171804/.

Most discussion will be conducted here but there may also be some on this forum for those cachers not on Facebook.

Keep an eye out for good things to come!

Isn't it a little bit naughty to use GA to promote something exclusively GC?
Not to mention borrowing an idea that GA has done, and done quite well, already?

Apart from those points, what an excellent idea!

We aren't making a series specifically like the I've cached everywhere series. At the moment there is a lot of discussion as to what the theme will be. It may be a series where hiders are free to chose locations and there is no limit on the amount of hides in the series (like the Church Micro series in England) or it could be much more limited. This is just some of the decisions that members in the group will make in the next few weeks.

This was just meant to raise awareness of the series and allow people who haven't heard, a chance to join in and be apart of the discussion. There may be more group discussion here as we try to make it a bit easier for new people to the group as the group gains size. Some of the members have said that the quantity of the posts make it difficult for them to want to add to the discussion. Therefore, we may move these discussions here as to allow members who don't have Facebook or don't want to be in the group on Facebook to join in and have some say in the direction of the series.

We are used to it  It'll be 'innovative and original' to most.

In all seriousness though, we have no real issues with planning GC related things here, it's the community's forum.

Hi All,
We have been watching this with Anticipation. I am wondering if the SA co-ordinator can post some info as to what is happening with SA's portion of the series. It would be great if they could log on and update us all on where they need help, if we are any closer to getting any out etc or published in SA.
Maybe the State rep could hold an event or similar to get interest??
