Alice Springs Milestone - Plan YOUR trip next year

Hi all,
Well, we Alice Cachers have done it.
We've now placed 100 caches within 10 km of the post office, and we've got 161 within a 100km radius of town, mainly focussed on must-see destinations within our awesome national parks. Initially, we were just trying to pass Katherine, which has half the population of Alice Springs, but had double the number of caches when we set out on this mission only 2 months ago.
This might not sound like much to you - however it means that new cachers can get their first hundred finds IN TOWN, instead of needing to travel interstate as many of us have in the past.
Of course, reaching one goal means that we needed to set another...
Over coffee and brunch on the weekend, we've set a new goal to several hundred more caches out within 100km radius of town over summer - so that there's no excuse for any Aussie cacher NOT to visit the Red Centre. We're considering organising some kind of event next winter, perhaps not a mega, but something significant. What's even better is that we have Tourism NT and the Parks and Wildlife Service are already behind us and supporting our mission to make Alice a true caching destination in the same way that it's becoming a prime mountain biking destination.
So watch this space. We're planning a public workshop introduction to caching and more events soon...
