I keep seeing logs by some local cachers referencing this but I have no idea what it's about.
[old man]Didn't have geocaching back when I was in Scouts!! We used to do orienteering with a compass and map if we were lucky![/old man]

You had a compass!!! Sheer bloody luxury. We could only dream of having a compass. We had to use a sextant and navigate by the stars.Yurt wrote:[old man]Didn't have geocaching back when I was in Scouts!! We used to do orienteering with a compass and map if we were lucky![/old man]

Stars??????? We dreamt of having stars! We were blind-folded and had to crawl on our hands and feet using our noses to smell which way was North!Black Bunny wrote:You had a compass!!! You had hands and feet ?? and eyes and noses too ??? Luxury... we had to wriggle our way towards the light using only our instinct to guide us. And that folks is how I often feel when confronted with a confounding and elusive cache

Re: Great Scouts Australia Geocaching Competition
My eldest daughter (The Imp) is in the competition. For her it mainly means that she's actually logging her finds these days, although I've just realised she hasn't done her logs from the last weekend of the holidays yet.
Must look up the end date, I've promised her I'll take her out for a bike ride to do the WRPT caches. She thinks she can use the ride for both the competition & for the cyclist badge

Re: Great Scouts Australia Geocaching Competition
Yeah...so i need to get outside more.
However, i'm pretty sure i'm the only rover in ACT doing it, so i may be winning by default.

Re: Great Scouts Australia Geocaching Competition
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings Bronnie_1990 but with just 66 finds since the Ides of March you're trailing a distant second to Black Bunney's 395 (assuming that BB is registered in the comp and also assuming that no others are ahead of you in the ACT). I'll be in Canberra myself next week and I plan to knock off the 50 Must see Places series. Anyone up for caching on Friday 2nd August?

besides, i'm only against other rovers, like other venturers are against each other, other leaders are against each other etc
Re: Great Scouts Australia Geocaching Competition
Ok, so I've just realised that there's a whole bunch of GCA caches out there. Can someone please explain to me how these work and whether they add to my total at geocaching.com or if they constitute a separate game entirely?
