We're self employed, but if we have to travel somewhere for some businessy type reason I have usually worked out what caches are on the way/close handy by the time mr2max finishes telling me where we're going. ;) I don't think he would sack me, but I have been grumbled at on more than several occassions for making us late. =;

Ive done a few caches when on work time, I drive tow trucks so if a job takes me to somewhere new i always check to see how far the nearest cache is, love the iphone app, if i have time i will try for it, been a little bit weary latley as they have stuck GPS tracking in the truck so need to be more careful, during the cache races ive been known to have several of these in the truck at various times, LOL :-)

I normally travel for work alone. However, last week I accompanied my Boss on a 3 hour trip (each way). He asked if I wanted to make any geocaching stops! I limited myself to one each way :) :)

Got a slap over the wrist for a long lunch break trying to get a not-quite-FTF with a caching workmate. [-X

I just remembered one caching-caused wrist slap many years ago.

We were racing all over Sydney going through the 26 waypoints (suburbs A-Z) of "The Hunt for Pilates" on the way to a coveted FTF.
This was before smartphones and even data plans, but I could use my mobile phone as a modem (57kbps) and browse from my Palm (a Sony Clie at the time, I think) using infrared to the phone. (Ah, those were the days...)

I did quite a bit of Internet connecting, it seems, and got a bill that was several times higher than usual. My boss knew why, and was understanding, but did warn me not to make a habit of it!

I was a director in a government department for a few years, and I was only able to cache on my holidays - and my stats show this. I spent a lot of my life during this period living in hotels, going to meetings and being hyper-busy.

It took its toll on me mentally and physically. Two years was enough, and I quit.

About a year ago, I started my own consulting business (I'm an archaeologist/anthropologist) and I'm able to find more time for caching now. I'm getting ready to do a 750 km-long cultural heritage clearance for a pipeline which goes from Katherine to Gove, so there will be much caching involved as I drive from Darwin to Katherine :D

I often don't get a lunch break but twice since I started caching, I have managed to escape on a slighly longer lunch break than usual to score FTFs \:D/
One morning I had to ring and say I would be over an hour late: I had driven 50 odd kms for a FTF and still hadn't found it by the time I should have been at work :oops: However I did go back after work and still got FTF 8)
I did have one benefit for a while as one child I worked with really enjoyed geocaching (after I introduced him to it) so each week we would go and find a few and this was accepted by my supervisor :)
I did get a wrist slapped though for pulling 100m off the road in a parking bay on a 4 hour drive for work, despite my protestations that I had really needed a bush at the time :wink:
So now, I try really hard to only cache outside of work unless I am able to take a lunch break :!:
So funny reading these posts and knowing that I am not the only geocacher who finds it hard sometimes to stay at work when caches are calling :lol:
