@ Bewilderbeest Thats one of the best pedigrees I've seen to date

I have finally tracked down the instigator of the Devils bend stash he buried the cache with his granddaughter in early 2000 but is not sure of the exact date so it could in-fact be slightly older than what the cache page states
Having a look at his bio Im not surprised he only had a fleeting interest caching,here is an extract

Paul spent twenty years in scientific based computation, the last twelve years of which involved scientific supercomputing. He was Head of IT at the Biomolecular Research Institute where he built and managed the supercomputing section, and the ICT Manager at the CSIRO Division of Biomolecular Engineering.
Research interests included the use of mass spectrometry for sequencing proteins, the development of imaging algorithms for processing electron-micrographs of crystalline antigen-antibody complexes (eg) and X-ray protein crystallography. He was one of CSIRO's most senior IT managers and earned an international reputation in high performance computing and networking.

God, I'm glad he didn't stay involved!!! can you imagine the evil puzzles he would haVe made?!?!?

Hmmm my lineage also works back to NYC Alpha Cache. I stopped there because Chris Rohner (sewardvanlee) hid this cache before his first recorded find (Governor Dick Cache). Does this break the "line" or is order unimportant???

And then Madcat, if you go into the loop of caches found after placing caches, but I'm going to stop at Karl Gramp's GCEB "Sandy Creek" placed in December 2000, the first in South Australia.

Having found a Big Matt and Shell cache by accident my genealogy is whatever theirs is, plus one step. I tried tracking it back through many, many steps but for some reason it started going in circles in 2001. Must have another look sometime.

This is quite interesting stuff
I end up in Lane Cove which took me to the 10 year event in Sydney (if you don't include those virtuals that I've logged using holiday pics in America)

Well that was fun but I do wish I had been able to delve deeper, maybe someone here can help.

Our introduction to geocaching was through ABC radio Karratha - they were talking about the freeing up of satellites and the start of geocaching in the USA, that was back in 2001. At the time I looked up GC.com and noticed there wasnt any caches in WA. Ian was after a GPS because we spent so much time out in the remote Pilbara region of WA and after hearing about geocaching I thought I would buy him one for his birthday. A Magellan with a sticky uppy bit for an antenna and it went to two decimal places, no maps back then or Google or anything of the sort. Anyway, a couple of months later we found ourselves down in Perth for a year and the first geocache had been hidden so ... the rest is history.

Our first find 08 May 2002 - Follow Me South - The Dawesville Capers by Lyn Pat and Nathan who also happen to be the team that hid the first cache in WA.

Unfortunately The Georoaches are no-longer geocaching and so I am unable to trace their heritage - if anyone knows I would love to hear about them.

And as (too my knowledge) the GeocachingNSW account has never found a cache, the loop finishes 10 years in advance of the first hide. Bizarre

I also trace myself back to here. I suspect that Jeremy actually adopted the cache from Peter Stuart, but I stand to be corrected.
