New Record Claim - Most Caches in One Day

Post by Rabbitto » 21 November 04 12:31 am

Date: 20 November 2004
Team: Rabbitto
Caches Logged upon this Day: 33 :D :D :D
Team Members Present: 3
Area Cached: Western and North Western Melbourne

Left Home: 7:15am
First Cache Logged: 8:00am
Last Cache Logged: 10:45pm
Arrived Home: 11:45pm

Multis Logged In this Total: 3
Caches Where We had to Park more than 500m away In this Total: 4
Did Not / Could Not Finds: 4 (2 Muggles, 2 Hard) :(
Km Travelled: 310
Caches Hidden Under Box Thorns: 7 :( (why?)
Injuries Sustained During Day by Box Thorns: 3
Stuffed: Yes
Worth It: Yep

After the recent thread on this topic, we thought that we had only one more chance to try for this record in Victoria as this was the only area with enough density of caches that we hadn't already logged. It will take a few days to catch up with all the logs. Thanks to the main cache Hiders for the day - Maccamob, Caught@Work & Two + Four (and others). Unfortunately, no swaps were made during day to keep the pace up.

Throw the trotter gauntlet in..

Post by Team Piggy » 21 November 04 10:44 am

I'll have to dig out our track log of Geocoopers & I when we did our Caching day in Vic a year & a half ago.

I am pretty sure as is the other cacher that we hit 35 + caches between 7 am & 7 pm, but as we logged them over the next few weeks the dates are all screwy.
This day started at Ararat and went thru the Pyrenees area and then towards Ballarat.

Once I find the track log it will show exactly what went on, we might just put challenge to your claim
The numbers get to be a bit blurry when you are doing that many caches in a day !

Umm, why would the dates be "all screwy"? :?
If you found them all on the same day wouldn't ALL the dates be the same???

Perhaps if you logged them over subsequent days (ie. not all in one hit) and forgot to change the 'find' date in the drop down list? I'm sure most of us have been guilty of this at some stage - I've done it a few times and have had to go back and modify the log to show the 'correct' date.

Not sure why people seem to be losing sleep over this one ... it's like all things in geocaching - some people are better equipped (in either time or resources) to give the record a shake than others.

Wait til we get to the States ...

Good going Rabbitto! whether your record is 'challenged' or not, what an effort!!

We did the Western subs recently and managed to do 12 caches in 12 hours, but were taking our sweet time (as usual...) and that's our personal best.

Perhaps we should rename ourselves Team Actionturtles! Happy Caching,

A quick pocket query showed over 300 'easy' ones (eg, 1s & 2s for difficulty and terrain) within 30mi of where we think we're going to be living ... sheesh!!
(No, we are not intending to do them all in a long weekend!!)

I don't see how I could top Rabbitto's 33, unless I stop caching in Melbourne for six months, however, I might be able to grab the record for the most placed caches in a day.

I'm planning to place 16 caches on a single day real soon now. I was hoping to release them in October, which slipped to November. However, it now looks like being early December.

I've sorted out the final location, and I've located 11 of the others. I need to suss out locations for the final four.

I have only one trip left for this year (Taipei next week), so I should be able to finalise them soon after.

Cheers,

Now my bandwidth chewing problem has gone I can post again!

We did a heap "HEAP" of caches, in excess of 75 from memoryin about 3 days.
As we had work to catch up on when we got backthe cache finds were logged over the next few weeks, hence the dates were "screwy".. I dont always hit the date button when doing mass cache postings..
Hard enough to get geo.com servers to accept anything somedays...

So that makes Rabbitto's record the first correctly logged 'most caches in one day' then

Gives us something to aim at, as a novelty.

Certainly does.

It is a lot easier for the newer players now, most of the older ones have to travel quite a distance to get a bunch of caches close enough to hit a heap in a short time..
