Well you could have lit one up, leaned back on the rock, puffed out a cloud of smoke and said something like "don't you just love the fresh air in the bush!"

Steamtrain, I understand your anger and concern.
Over the years we have found quite a lot of inappropriate things in caches. We generally remove the dirty, damaged, or inappropriate items and replace them with something more suitable.
Some people are unaware of the rules and/or the reasons for banning some items. Sometimes a muggle has found the container and is using it for storage.
You did the right thing.

Just to highlight the opposite, I completed a series yesterday with my 8 yr old and every cache had her rummaging through in delight as there were some great age appropriate swaps. That said I fear it won't last long as these caches are in town and are new, so over time I fear the swaps will disappear, but they certainly made an 8yr olds day yesterday

I have found a few caches that had soaking wet logbooks and broken pencils. Jade it quite hard to wright.
