Has anyone mentioned Google Drive yet?

Post by Pesky! » 17 May 12 9:42 pm

As i have not been checking the forums recently.
I was wondering if anyone has mentioned Googles recent offering...Google drive.?

It is much like all those "cloud storage" offerings.
Its awesome for those of us who allready have a google docs/googl+ gmail set up.

for paperless geocaching... store your GPX files into your g-drive at home then retrieve them on your Tablet,( Ipad soon), Smartphone,(iphone soon), laptop, or any netcafe. you can carry around unlimited ( well 5gb worth for free)
For puzzle solving...extra maps, and documents and photos ans d so on.

you can even share them with team mates and friends, form group drives .
I'm sure there is more it can do.
is anyone else using it? do you have any good or bad reports about it?

I noticed this a few weeks ago and I am quite impressed with it. I have attempted adding photos and other files to my Google Drive folder and viewing them online, and I can safely say that they were there within 30 seconds. Very good, and I can't wait for the iPhone and iPad updates to arrive (I kinda live in an Apple family  ). Once again, it is made even better by the fact that is all free. Google is amazing :D :D

One area that they haven't caught up Dropbox on, though, is LAN syncing. If you put a big file or three on Dropbox, it syncs to the other computers (including phones and tablets, of course) over the LAN rather than multiple downloads via your Internet connection. Much faster and saves using up ISP byte allocation.

I'll keep using both for now, and if I find that one gets all the love, then I'll drop the other. Isn't it nice to be spoiled for choice!
