Re: event nomencalture
I don't think the Americans really care whether the name is correct or not. I believe that's where the term originated (for caching, I mean).
I think it would be an excellent idea to call events by their proper names, but I can't see it happening, unfortunately.

We can have Mega events, Giga events, Terra events, whatever the hell we feel like making. They take about two minutes to set up in the system. The icon is the hardest part

Re: event nomencalture
It's funny how things work.
I lived in Sydney between 1973 and 1988, and was very much aware of the Megalong Valley near Katoomba in the Blue Mountains.
We were up that way a few weeks ago and it struck me for the first time that it is a very ironic name, the Mega-long Valley, meaning very long.
Of course this would have nothing to do with how it was originally named but it just exemplifies the way words have different meanings and emphasis over time.
I'm sure today's teenagers (and Pesky) probably immediately think it's called Megalong because it's a very long valley.
