They have the Recycling Code 5, which is for polypropylene. Very difficult to glue, and generally requires surface pre-treatment (same applies to painting). I have used Loctite 770 Activator followed by Loctite 401 Instant Glue with moderate success, but they're not cheap. Google 'glue polypropylene' for a host of other suggestions.

There are very few glues that will work with them . Try the one maccamob has suggested but things like araldite will work for only a little while.
Then,what tends to happen over the months is the containers flex a bit here and there and the glue all just comes away in one big heap.

If you are thinking of glueing a large magnet to the inside base, try Dave's suggestion and then place insulation tape over the lot as it tends to flex with the sistema over the years of use it will get.

I just used duct tape. Had the cache in place for well over a year and it was still well affixed when I replace the container with a clear one.

They're free from BPA, so a tick from me.

As for paint, the $3 a can pressure packs work a treat for me.

Attach a magnet?
Stick a frog to the lid?

I don't want to give it away but tape won't work - nor do I intend to paint it.

Google seems to say hot glue is the way to go - anyone had experience with this?

Hot glue is pretty awesome in general (I've got little projects around that are almost MADE of the stuff!) and works quite well on plastic boxes for awhile. I used it to glue some camo onto a Lock'n'Lock (probably same material, just better design) and it didn't come unstuck; the camo just slowly broke away.

If you can, though, mechanical fastening is really the only way to be secure. Bolt stuff on and then seal the bolt-holes with hot glue. You can even glue camo stuff to something easier to stick to, then bolt that substrate to the box.

Beware the napalm effect hot-melt glue can have... Also, not too sure how it goes with adhesion to a slick surface - plastic might melt and bond better than other hard surfaces though.

Scuffing up the surface with sandpaper can help adhesion. As my repair of The Sistema Twins a contact-type adhesive seemed to work well, but as for how it goes over the longer term who knows?

I've just bought some of this (for a cache I'm making) from Bunnings, apparently it works well for PE & PP plastics like sistema's

I've tried the above, but the main problem with plastice is the flexibility of it. Superglue products set stiff, with no flexibility. If it is rigid enough, use plumbers primer and glue, or if it is a bit more flexible use sikaflex. Sikaflex goes on like thick honey and sets like s*@t to a blanket, try that.

Works for me too. Just scuff up the plastic where the glue is fixing with some coarse sandpaper first and clean and dry it.

Liquid nails sticks to just about anything, but it isn't weather-proof. If it is a damp environment it lets go eventually.
