ja-gps have the Montana auto bundle on sale for 24 hours only for $650. This is a pretty good price, for a pretty good unit.

Nice unit at a nice price. This is on my wishlist, sooo.... if anyone wants to surprise me for Xmas and buy one, then I will definitely be surprised.

However, bigger fish are on the wish list before a brand spanking new GPS unit.

The Montana 600...which is identical to 650 minus the camera can be imported from the US and landed on your doorstep
for around $500(price I paid anyhow)....which then allows for some decent maps like Oztopo 3.

Plus $199 for the topo maps and then another $50 for the car mount, then you have an overseas warranty issue. I did exactly as you suggested since I already had the Gamrin topo maps on SD card, but it doesn't make the $650 deal any worse. I'd have much preferred to get something locally. When McPhan had "the montana issue" with his imported unit it took quite some time to convince Garmin Australia to cover it under warranty. But, to their credit, they eventually did.

I've also read that OzTopo specifically is against Garmin policy. Could be scarelore, but when I looked into it, it seemed to be the case.

The camera is not too bad either in the 650t. Not good in dark conditions, no flash - but if it means I don't have to carry another piece of electronic equipment on a day hike it is well worth it.
