I like the new ACT one, a lot. Nice walk, well prepared and circular back to the car. And it can be ridden on a mountain bike.

Re: Australian Power Trails
Did the Phillip Island one by bike last week and it was enjoyable. Spaced about 400-500m with a decent variation on hides and an interesting ongoing puzzle linking them up. Ironically the most frustrating part was the difficulty of the first one which is a very nasty no hints nano. However, once you got into the "style" of hides became easier.

The new PTs should soon get a visit from NZ's 'craziest' cacher!

I just saw he had over 1100 finds for October alone.
12 600+ finds in 3.5 years!

Re: Australian Power Trails
Talking power trails, I was told about an incident that happen last weekend on a power trail at Stanthorpe where a couple of cachers got together and one did the evens and the other the odds and logged each others names. I just wonder who they are trying to cheat. Themselves or the rest of the cachers. It might make your numbers look good but in my mind if you havent got to the cache you havent found it. Maybe I am taking this the wrong way.

Re: Australian Power Trails
When we create these situations that are focused more on number-runs than on the cache experience then this is bound to happen. It's not 'right' of course, but we can't stop it from happening, and in some ways it's a predictable response to a numbers-focused power trail. I'm sure many of the multiple-teams that complete the huge Nevada powertrails don't all get out and find it - It'll be one person leaping out of the car while the rest idle (or in some cases I've heard of, people just grabbing the cache, signing it in the car while they drive to the next cache, then replacing in a 'leapfrog' fashion). Or other approaches like just whacking stickers on the outside of the cache, etc. Unfortunate, but not unsurprising.Green Team 2 wrote:Talking power trails, I was told about an incident that happen last weekend on a power trail at Stanthorpe where a couple of cachers got together and one did the evens and the other the odds and logged each others names. Re: Australian Power Trails
When my caching buddy and I did the woodlands trail (properly I might add) we were passed by a group of three doing that. So in truth they only found a third of the 100 caches each. At least I know we found them allGreen Team 2 wrote:Talking power trails, I was told about an incident that happen last weekend on a power trail at Stanthorpe where a couple of cachers got together and one did the evens and the other the odds and logged each others names. The records need some definition around them to overcome this.

Wrong, oh so wrong. (Ah, I see you haven't done them yet) A mountain bike in there would be a hindrance. There is so much cross country, its easier to walk the whole lot - a pleasant and EASY walk it is too.VikingOlly wrote:I like the new ACT one, a lot. Re: Australian Power Trails
hmm i was thinking that. With the star - yes, there are some cool looking hills (that i've even mentioned in one of my logs "hey, i should of brought my bike") but...cross country style? I think i'll just walk.mtbikeroz wrote:Wrong, oh so wrong. (Ah, I see you haven't done them yet) A mountain bike in there would be a hindrance. ..and complete the rest of the trail..
(sol's on the other hand, would of been pretty awesome on a bike!)
