Re: Munzees!
This problem was solved.
It wasn't the version of Android it was the phone specs (fixed focus camera) which were not up to the job.

Re: Munzees!
Versions of Android are named after sweets
1.5 Cupcake
1.6 Donut
2.0/1 Eclair
2.2 Froyo (Frozen Yogurt)
2.3 Gingerbread
3.x Honeycomb
4.x Ice Cream Sandwich
I'm not making this stuff up, but I guess somebody did.....
You will notice they're in alphabetical order too.

You will not they're i9n alphabetical order too.
So if my phone is a 2.2.1, it must be a Froyo.
How do you update the versions???

If you're locked to a telco, they control it.tronador wrote:Thank you, that's very clever and sweet!! BUT what happened to A and B?gmj3191 wrote:Versions of Android are named after sweets

If your phone is rooted (if you'll pardon the expression) you can control it and update yourself.
Rooting is modifying the boot software to give you root access, which is like having administrator access in windows.
I'm no expert on this, others can chime in and explain better probably.

Re: Munzees!
Should also be mentioned it will most likely void the warranty and has a chance of "bricking" your phone if done incorrectly.tronador wrote:Thanks, my phone is not locked so I will take a look, I can probably update this myself.
Bricking - When used in reference to consumer electronics, "brick" describes a device that cannot function in any capacity (such as a device with damaged firmware).

Unless you have a specific reason to, there's not much to gain for the average Joe (Not that I'm suggesting you're average in any way at all Joe)tronador wrote: Thanks, my phone is not locked so I will take a look, I can probably update this myself.

Re: Munzees!
Now Im wondering what sweet delicacy for "Q" they will come up with!
However...
Today the Munzee guys released some more security protection so that all new Munzees created will have an embedded secret code to further help stop armchair loggers

Re: Munzees!
Has armchair logging been much of a problem? You could do exactly the same thing at gc.com.au and gc.com so I am not sure why it is a priority. Hoping their business model is working out so munzee doesn't go "poof".
But on a more positive note, I was much more interested in finding munzees than caches during a recent visit to Perth. Something simpler and fun about them for me at the moment.

Re: Munzees!
Munees can be tied to commercial activities. If you can armchair log a Munzee at a cafe and get a discount on coffee, the cafe owner won't be too happy. Armchair logging in a game world is vastly different from armchair logging in a commercial world.

Re: Munzees!
From what Ive seen there are some teething problems with the new codes... hopefully sorted soon, but its only for 'newly' created codes and I have 25 already printed ready to go so no worries for me
The business model seems to be working and new features/fixes come online each week. This week apart from the security the maps got a good upgrade with more on the way. Remember it took years of constant building and coding and tweeking for GC and GCA to offer the features they do. I still think the 4 Munzee boys who are doing this part time are doing well...
Not everyone is as magic as C@W and the Creat Ratty One
Ive noticed the crazy Germans have caught the bug and in the past month have gone NUTS with Munzees. Also that there seems to be an increasing number of 'non-geocacher-background' players coming on board
