Any ACT Rotarians? (actually any Rotarians...)

Post by Tealby » 06 July 11 8:45 am

I've had a question put to me, so I'll refer it to the general community...
Are there any geocachers in the ACT who are also Rotarians?

I am a cacher and a rotarian, just not in the ACT - but it is the same Rotary District!

OK, I have just been given some extra info as to why the question was raised... so really this post may interest any Rotarian & not just ones in the ACT. I would have put this post in the general area if I'd realised, but it probably will still attract the attention of the target group here.

A call has come out from a female Canadian Rotarian who is a keen geocacher (geocaching name is los patos) to get a global network of geocaching Rotarians up and running in time for the International Convention being held in Sydney in 2014 - where the group would all meet up, do some geocaching and hide a whole pile of geocaches (I'm not sure how they would get around the vacation rule) - at these Conventions many Rotarians stay on and have a holiday in the hosting country - so a week of geocaching in various parts of the country would be planned as a post conference event.

The idea of los patos was to create a global network/fellowship of geocachers and 2BluFish is the local ACT cacher who she has been in contact with - to see if there are any Rotarians into geocaching already out here. So, if you are a Rotarian then you can either contact los patos or 2BluFish (aka Faye) directly or post a message here like Lucy & Roo did - it might be nice to post here so others know who they might be able to connect with. And that's about the sum total of my knowledge on the subject, but hopefully it gives you some idea of why I made the original post! I do also have a Rotary profile for los patos (aka Elly) with direct email contact details, but it is probably not good to post that on an open forum - but you can contact either of them via their GC profiles.

Moved to General Chit Chat with a shadow left in the ACT forum.
Now it can be found in both places.

Sorry Tealby - I used the wrong words, the Rotarians would be putting a whole pile of Trackables and TB's in local geocaches, not hiding new ones - unless a local did that for them.

Add us to the list of Rotarians - Rotary Club of Drysdale (2011-12 Director International).

Since I posted a message about a possible Fellowship for Rotarian Geocachers in the 2009 Zone 22 (Canada) newsletter I have not had any response, but you Aussies got me all excited. I am so happy to hear that there is interest. I am collecting names and like to see us all get together in Sydney in 2004 for the International Convention and do some serious Geocaching with Rotary TBs. As soon as I have enough names we can start with the paperwork for RI to apply for this Fellowship. \:D/

I am a Rotarian in WA and am considering going to the convention in 2014, so please add me to the list to be kept informed. Would also be interested in joining the Fellowship group if it gets going.
I actually found out about Geocaching through a talk at Rotary and we have 4 cachers in our club (Mandurah City).

I love the feedback I am getting. I will need actual names and e-mail addresses to continue. Send me a message please at: <miselly2@platinum.ca>
You'll have to teach me all about Time Travel.
Thanks Rotarian Geocachers in Australia to help me make this a reality.
